Coceral estimates the EU rapeseed harvest at 19.5 million tons

Coceral estimates EU-27 rapeseed harvest 2022 higher at 19.5 million t (previous year 17.4 million t) In its 4th estimate in mid-September , the umbrella organization of European grain and oilseed traders (Coceral) 2022 the EU-27 rapeseed harvest 2022 increased to 19.5 million t compared to the 3rd estimate (in May 22) by around 1 million t. The main reasons for the increased numbers are the 8.6% increase in cultivation area and the 1 dt/ha increase in yield compared to the previous year. However, there are different developments in the individual Member States. In the south-eastern European growing areas of the EU, there have been significant harvest losses due to drought. In the EU's largest production area, France, the area under cultivation has increased by 23% compared to the previous year . The yield per hectare improved from 33.4 to 37 dt/ha. The harvest result increases by around +20% to 4.5 million tons.At 4.02 million t (previous year 3.5 million t), the German rapeseed harvest performed surprisingly well. The increased area under cultivation to 1.076 million ha (previous year around 1 million ha) and a 2.5 dt/ha higher area yield (37.4 dt/ha) contributed to this result. Rapeseed production in Poland is estimated at around 3.6 million t (previous year 3.37 million t). However, an increased acreage was compensated for by a lower yield (33.3 dt/ha) . In the 4th largest EU production region, the Czech Republic , only a slightly higher harvest of almost 1.3 million tons is estimated. A hectare yield that was 1.5 dt/ha higher (35 dt/ha) was the decisive reason. In Romania , the rapeseed harvest fell -7.5% to 0.99 million t , despite the larger acreage due to the low yields (23.5 dt/ha) caused by the drought.
