The EU grain harvest is estimated to be -6.8% lower at 269 million t . The basis is provided by an only slightly changed area under cultivation, but a significantly lower yield per hectare as a result of the dry periods. The EU wheat harvest is estimated by Copa-Cogeca at 125.6 million t or 2.5% lower than last year. In contrast, the K. maize harvest is estimated to be around 21% lower at just 55 million tons . The sum of the remaining grain types is only slightly lower compared to the previous year. Measured against the 5-year average, the 2022 harvest is well below the medium-term figures.
