DRV: German rapeseed harvest 2020 higher than in the previous year, but significantly smaller than the multi-year average. The Deutsche Raiffeisenverband (DRV) has published a preview of the German rapeseed harvest. According to the Federal Statistical Office's calculations, the acreage is around 100,000 ha higher than the previous year at approx . 952,000 ha has been lost, but is still far below the multi-year average of 1.35 million ha in previous years. The yield assumptions in the German average of 36.1 dt / ha are in the middle of several years. Depending on the state, the range ranges from 32.5 dt / ha in Brandenburg to 40.5 dt / ha in Baden Württemberg.The increases in acreage in individual federal states are outstanding: Hesse increases rapeseed land by 56.7% , Saxony Anhalt by 31.7% Thuringia increases by 23% Brandenburg by 20% and farmers in Lower Saxony and Brandenburg each increased by around 10% . The reason for the high growth rates was the better sowing conditions in autumn 2019 compared to the previous year. The total harvest is 3.44 million tons compared to 2.82 million tons in the previous year. In previous years, an average of 4.5 million was reached. As a result, the German rapeseed supply remains too small to meet demand. Imports remain necessary. Nevertheless, the prices are determined more by the competing products.
