DRV estimates the rapeseed harvest in 2021 at 3.67 million t - harvest quantities significantly below previous figures In its 4th edition, the German Raiffeisen Association (DRV) estimates the German rapeseed harvest to be 3.67 million t, somewhat higher than in the previous month. The background to this is the slightly increased yield expectations to 36.8 dt / ha in the national average, which, however, are still just below the previous year's level. The 3.9% year-on-year increase in cultivation areas is decisive for the overall result, as determined by the Federal Statistical Office on May 19, 2021. The harvest results vary in the individual federal states. The largest increase is expected in Saxony-Anhalt with an increase of 24.5%, which is mainly caused by increased cultivation areas (+17%). In Lower Saxony , the rapeseed harvest is estimated to be 22% higher than the previous year. Both an increased cultivation area and a higher area yield contribute to the larger harvest. In Bavaria , the rapeseed harvest is estimated to be 16.6% higher. The decisive factor is the increased area under cultivation with 13.1%. Brandenburg expects a 10% higher rapeseed harvest, mainly due to the larger areas. In Saxony , it is estimated that there will be 11% more rape, which should be achieved mainly through higher yield expectations. In contrast, the rapeseed harvests in Hesse are expected to be -15.7%, Rhineland-Palatinate by -10.6%, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania by -7.3%, in North Rhine-Westphalia by -5.7% and in Schleswig-Holstein by -5 .6% smaller than last year. In all cases, the declining acreage is the main cause.
