- GDT auction in June 2021: on average again -0.9% weaker.
The first Global Dairy Trade (GDT) auction in June 2021 once again had to reduce the price level reached so far by an average of -0.9%. Regular butter experienced another major setback in a row. In line with the usual seasonal development, the handling volumes have remained low. Whole milk powder (VMP) , at -0.5% on average, had to give up another part of the increase in previous auctions. The exception is the month of August with a premium of 0.3%. The absolute prices of $ 4,062 / t remain at a high level in a multi-year comparison. Skimmed milk powder (SMP) has to give up the gain in the pre-auction with -0.5%. Nevertheless, the quotations remain in the high price range of the last 5 years. A poor result was only achieved in Oct-2021. The MMP prices are 3.415 $ / t still at a high level compared to the EU (3,196 $ / t) and the USA (2,736 $ / t). Clarified butter has to be far unrivaled price level can claim the full amount -0.8% on average for the umpteenth time not. While the previous delivery dates were still positive, the results in the following months remained significantly weaker. The average product price remains in the upper price segment at $ 5,654 / t. Normal butter has again -5.4% have to give on average after exceptionally poor performance in the Vorauktíonen (-12.1% and -2.2%). The delivery month of September 2021 made a significant contribution with -12.8%. At a level of $ 4,690 / t, the absolute butter price has repeatedly to accept substantial reductions from its maximum price level and only reaches a good average level. (see grafic). EEX Leipzig is quoted at $ 5,152 / t and Chicago prices are $ 4,023 / t. Despite the discounts, the average price level still remains in the good average range. In the EU and the USA, the quotations are clearly lagging behind. In the southern hemisphere, the milk season is reaching its seasonal low. In the northern hemisphere, the contrary seasonal increase in delivery shows no growth rates.
