Australia with miserable harvest 2018/19 - no good prospects for 2019/20 Australia's grain production has to cope with extreme weather conditions . In particular, the weather phenomena El Niño and La Niña provide either dryness or abundant rainfall. In the last 3 years , crops initially increased by 45% and then fell by more than 50% in 2 years . With an export quota of 65% on average, crop fluctuations provide for correspondingly varying export volumes on the world market , which contribute significantly to the global supply situation. The special effect effect arises from the fact that the crops in the southern hemisphere are pending at the turn of the year and thus responsible for the supply of the results of the northern hemisphere. This year, no improvement in the average weak harvests in the northern hemisphere is expected. This year's harvest result is approx. 32 milliont around rd. 21% below the previous year's level. Exports are expected to fall back in the same proportion. The main reason for the miserable harvest is a prolonged drought in the southeastern region , which has the higher proportion of cereals compared to the western regions. According to the climate data from the Australian Department of Agriculture ABARES, precipitation levels in the northeastern growing areas of the Queensland-New South Wales border area barely reached 5% of the long-term average . Also affected are parts of the western growing area. For sowing for the coming harvest, the measurements of soil moisture conditions at different depths of the soil layers provide indications of the chances of a timely and promising order . The result is that in many parts of the eastern growing region the soil moisture is extremely low . The precipitation prospects for the coming months March to May promise little improvement.Even if the forecasts are highly error-prone, there is still a belief that the necessary above-average rainfall to replenish reserves of groundwater is likely to be very low. Currently there are the so-called summer crops . The new sowing period for the grain year 2019/20 will only start in May / June 2019. The prospects for the coming year are very subdued.
