Winter cereals in Europe without sufficient hardiness - high risk of Dewinterizing
The Agrarmeteorologische has identified due to the climate data up to the level of early December 2015 the Dewinterizing hardness at the winter cereals Institute at the Commission (MARS).
The winter hardiness evolved over time as a result of the cold stimulus. Plants cast increasingly starch to sugar, with the result that the lowered freezing point of water cell is.
MARS has however so far noted throughout Europe no sufficient incentive to cold . Mid-Oct. 15, had initially deployed a resilience at low temperatures, was converted but by the high temperatures in November until recent times into it again.
At low precipitation also no snow cover has can be formed, which could protect the plants from unexpected cold spells below freezing.
Little to no pronounced in the vast part of the EU is the Frost tolerance . Small regions make up except in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Slovakia, Austria and Western parts of the Balkans.
In the southern regions of Russia , also still no sufficient hardiness has been concluded. Only in the more Eastern regions, the freezing tolerance of plants is further developed. Given the little developed plant stands, a sudden cold wave could bring significant damage.
The weather forecast for the next days leave for the time being no deep temperatures below zero degrees in the Western parts of Europe expect, so that here the Dewinterizing risk is considered low. In the eastern regions, the temperatures should fall hardly below-5 degrees Celsius. The rainfall in many parts remain sparse.
