DBV reduces harvest estimate due to low threshing results The German Farmers' Association (DBV) corrects its earlier harvest estimates downwards based on the threshing results currently recorded in the regional associations. The barley harvest, which is almost complete, only has an area yield of 71 dt / ha; The decisive reason is the small grain size that can be observed in many places as a result of the delayed and cool spring weather. In total, barley will only deliver just under 9 million t compared to the earlier estimate of 9.3 million t. The wheat harvest has only progressed in some early threshing areas. Again and again rain showers interrupt the progress of the work. According to the feedback so far, a 15% lower harvest volume is indicated, which is now only estimated at around 21 million t instead of 23 million t previously. This almost reached the previous year's level, but remained below a 5-year average.Initial figures indicate that even with rye and most summer cereals, the high yield expectations could not be fulfilled. However, the data basis is still too small to make sufficiently precise statements. Rape is expected to have yielded around 35 dt / ha (previous year 34.5 dt / ha). The harvest is estimated at 3.4 million t. Earlier estimates of 3.7 million t appear too high. Overall, this year's harvest takes place under difficult conditions. The drivability of the floors is impaired. Repeated rain showers prevent the grains from drying off sufficiently. The delays in harvesting lower the grain quality. Wheat prices have continued to rise. In northern Germany, the 200 € / t mark is clearly exceeded. Feed barley is aiming for 180 € / t .
