Rainfall reduced German harvest expectations 2015
The continuing absence of rainfall in many parts of Europe draws on the substance of the previous high harvest estimates on the basis of the favourable development of the spring. Water scarcity in the crucial phase of yield formation leads to reductions and a weak grain training. Signs of Notreife become increasingly apparent.
For Germany has the German Raifeissenverband (DRV) revised its monthly crop estimates significantly down. The total harvest to fall by 52 million tonnes to 47.7 million tonnes down. A reduction in yield is assumed surface modified with negligible by 10%.
The German wheat harvest to fall by 2 million tons to 25.5 million tonnes. Because wheat usually stands on the better sites, only 7 can be estimated in this cereal % yield reduction.
Despite genetic water frugality, the rye suffers from the lack of precipitation. The DRV has downgraded the deutschae Roggenerrnte 10% to 3.45 million tons.
The earlier the ripening of barley you want cut off worse when the yield per hectare to 12% compared to the previous year. A higher acreage to prevent worse gives that crop results only by 8.7% compared with the previous years.
The last year's bumper harvest in maize will not be achieved this year. The production to fall by 9.2% to 4.7 million tonnes.
The so-called small grains show the same signs of reducing harvesting for the previous year such as OAT and Triticale .
The cuts the crop estimates can be quite even higher, if in the coming weeks the rainfall deficit should continue. The later-maturing grains will be more burdened than the early grades.
The supply on the German market in cereals is still sufficient, ensuring considerable quantities for export available . The offer is however noticeably less.
