Winter seeds in good condition In most regions, the winter seeds are in good condition according to the most recent climate data analysis by the EU Commission's Agrometeorological Institute (MARS). However, large areas of central and western Europe still have a precipitation deficit, which should still be filled before the start of vegetation. In the southern and south-western regions (including Spain and western France) there is a lack of rain, which extends to a pronounced drought. However, the excess rain in Turkey and southern western Russia have not brought any significant impairments. Even frost temperatures down to -16 degrees have with sufficient snow cover, not significantly damaged the winter crops around the Black Sea. Winter damage has hardly occurred in the entire observation area. In the other areas, the frost resistance of the winter crops is only extremely low. However, MARS no longer expects major winter damage in view of the advanced time and the weather forecasts.
