MARS: climate data force to take back the EU income estimates
The agro-meteorological Institute of the EU is due to its climate data records Commission MARS forced to withdraw the previously high estimate of Flächenerträge for Europe on key locations.
In the northern Central Europe, ranging from North-Eastern parts of France over northern Germany up to Polen into extends to an area far below average rainfall conditions during the period from mid-May to mid-June. This also applies to Western and North-Eastern parts of Ukraine and Romania. In the areas of the Russian Volga district, there was an above-average number of hot days.
The South and East of Spain has suffered significantly too small amounts of rain.
To much rain , however, existed in Scotland and Sweden. The importance for the EU cereal harvest is however negligible.
The yield map in Europe has changed significantly. Germany Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria fall into the category of even average income expectations. But Spain is now in the category of grain yield regions below the following averages.
France, UK, Sweden and Poland surprisingly still lie in the green area of above-average results with more than 4% above the multi-annual average. Large parts of Poland are spared by the drought.
The new earnings estimate is reflected in the next crop forecast of the European Commission. As a result, it is assumed that the EU harvest is classified much lower than previously.
In the two first weeks of July is back with high temperatures and precipitation poverty count. The dry weather comes the DRUSCH ripe barley. For late maturing crops, it is again critical.
