USDA slightly updates world grain balance for 2023/24 The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has updated the global supply situation on the grain market for 2023/24 in its latest April edition. Production was cut by 1 million tonnes compared to the previous month and consumption remained largely unchanged. The documents show a lower ending stock of 603 million tonnes, or 26.3% of consumption. In the previous year 2022/23, supplies tended to be somewhat better at 26.8%. In the case of the wheat market , the USDA is only making insignificant adjustments to its previous month's figures. For the time being, the already limited supply in this grain sector will remain. In the corn sector, the USDA has made some cuts related to the reduced Argentine, South African and Mexican harvests. Production will be around 2 million tonnes lower, and consumption will be reduced by around 1 million tonnes. This results in an insignificant change in the overstock levels for the coming financial year.
