Cut-off date June 22, 2025: US wheat seed level slightly weaker
The USDA report on the seed status of the USA showed a downward trend in the assessment of US wheat as of June 22, 2025. The weekly report is based on 3,600 reporters from around 90% of the grain-growing regions. In the southern US provinces, 19% of the wheat has already been threshed; yield results are not yet available.
The proportion of seed stands rated "good to excellent" fell from 52% to 49% within a week. This is due to a developing dry period in the northern and western growing regions. Spring wheat cultivation in the north-western provinces on the Canadian border has been particularly affected, with results falling significantly below the previous year's level.
The assessment of the sowing status of maize was reduced slightly less. However, the assessment of barley stocks is around 25 percentage points below the previous year's level.
