MARS: continued positive outlook for earnings in the EU
The agro-meteorological Institute of Commission MARS estimates the current prospects for high yields in the EU positive in the April issue. Decisive factors were the mild winter and the early-onset beginning of vegetation with warmer than usual conditions. In the Baltic States and Finland, far above-average temperatures could be measured. A heavy precipitation surplus was determined in the Balkans caused damage. It has been clearly too dry in the northern part of Portugal.
In large parts of the rest of Europe , the rainfall in the moving category between + 10 to - 20% deviation from the long-term mean. In the area of the deficit are large parts of Germany, France and some central areas of Spain with the exception of the coastal regions and the regions. Critical values reached the low rainfall in Northern Italy on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, and. Above-average precipitation went down in the Baltic States.
Total would be desirable increasing rainfall in the coming weeks and months, particularly against the background of increasing evaporation with increasing temperature and increasing evaporation surfaces of leaf mass.
The yield forecasts move in midfield and beyond. Earnings were not forecast. Be higher than long-term yields in United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Romania, Bulgaria and on the Adriatic Sea expected. In the United Kingdom and Germany it is estimated the average wheat yield 8.1 t / ha in Sweden to 6,3 t / ha and in Romania on 3.4 t / ha.
Average wheat yields on country-specific varying levels are predicted for France, Italy, Poland, Spain and the South of neighboring States . On this basis it is currently for the EU a 2015 forecast good average EU crop. This presupposes, however, that other weather conditions remain at least as favourable as in the past. The ultimate yield formation stage is before yet.
