US corn prices closed with slight losses on Monday. The September contract closed 4.75 US cents lower at 403.75 US cents/bushel.
According to the USDA, stock assessments were unchanged at 74% good/excellent. This figure is slightly above analysts' expectations.
At around 983,625 tons, the USDA's export inspections show a decline compared to the previous week, when the figure was 1.314 million tons. The previous year's figure was also slightly higher at 991,257 tons. Nevertheless, total exports are well above the previous year's level with an increase of 28.9%.
The current weather continues to depress the mood of traders. Warm and humid conditions in the US corn belt and announced rainfall are benefiting yields.
Things also looked bearish on Euronext. November lost 1.25 € to 200.75 €/t.
