Corn futures were able to cushion the losses on the bean and wheat markets and the contracts held their gains until the close of trading. They ended the midweek session with a gain of 3 to 4 cents. Investors seemed to focus on corn, especially after the slightly pessimistic WASDE report. Meanwhile, the USDA reported private export sales of 130,320 tons of corn to unknown destinations for 2024/25 this morning. Ahead of the weekly export sales report on Thursday, the trade is expecting sales totaling 0.8 to 1.7 million tons for 2024/25 in the week of June 2-6. Sales for the new crop are seen in a range of 0 to 500,000 tons. On Euronext, however, maize contracts were unable to hold their ground and closed the day with moderate losses.
