The EU Commission has published its weekly export data. These show that the member states exported a total of 13.65 million tons of common wheat in the current season up to 23 February. This means that exports are 36 percent lower than in the same period last year. With a volume of 2.1 million tons, most of the grain was delivered to Nigeria. This was followed by Morocco (1.5 million tons) and Algeria (1.0 million tons). In contrast, 13.5 million tons of maize were imported into the EU. This result means that imports are 8 percent higher than the previous year's level. Ukraine remains by far the most important supplier with 7.7 million tons, followed by the USA (2.5 million tons) and Brazil (1.6 million tons).
