The US wheat market continued to fall on Tuesday, with contracts recovering somewhat from the weaker trend by the close of trading. Chicago SRW futures were on average 5 to 7 cents lower at the close of trading. The picture was similar in Kansas and Minneapolis. Market participants once again focused on political developments in particular. Trump still wants to stick to the introduction of tariffs. The negotiation period expires next Tuesday. Meanwhile, other importing countries are once again active on the market. Algeria is said to have purchased between 150,000 and 170,000 tons of milling wheat as part of an international tender. Market participants estimate that the price per tonne (including costs and freight) was between 273 and 280 US dollars. The supplies are said to come mainly from the Black Sea region.
