Germany: V- price €2.20/ kg (range €2.20 - €2.20/kg) The weekly slaughter figures were lower at around 620,000 pigs (previous week 752,857 ) due to the holiday, the slaughter weights rose slightly at 97.7 kg . The advance registrations were again higher at 264,900 pigs (previous week 245,200) . The ISN auction on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 brought an average of €2.27/kg in a range of €2.26 - €2.28/kg. The surplus was 60%. The V-price has been set at €2.20/kg in a range of €2.20 - €2.20/kg for the period from April 4, 2024 to April 10, 2024. ASF : As of March 29, 2024, 5,678 ASF-infected wild boars have been detected in Brandenburg, Saxony and Mecklenburg. In February 2024, 30 cases were confirmed, 26 of which were in Dresden. Market and price development in selected competing countries: In Denmark, the comparable prices remained unchanged at €1.81/kg in the 14th week of 2024. In Belgium, the comparable prices of €2.08/kg were also retained unchanged in the 14th week of 2024. In the Netherlands, the quotations will continue unchanged in the 14th week of 2024 with comparable prices of €2.08/kg . In France/Brittany prices have remained at €2.03/kg . The battle figures remain at 351.526 pigs still below average with a slaughter weight of 96.38 kg. In Italy, the prices were increased by +1 ct/kg in the 14th week of 2024. A limited supply meets an average demand. In Spain, prices will remain unchanged at a comparable €2.35/kg in the 14th week of 2024. The live supply remains tight with demand subdued. In the USA/IOWA, the previous increase in producer prices was reset to the current €1.64/kg (-2 cents/kg). Slaughter numbers are low due to the holidays, and cut prices have continued to rise. Cold storage stocks have fallen . For the summer barbecue season, stock market prices are trading at over €2.12/kg. However, the autumn/winter dates are again at an average of 1.75 €/kg. Brazil: Producer prices have stabilized on average at €1.55/kg . Demand from the processing industry leaves much to be desired. Support from export business is still low. However, increasing sales figures and high prices are expected for 2024. China: Prices have stabilized again at €2.51/kg . The usual seasonal weakness in demand remains for the time being. The month of May-2024 is trading at 2.59 €/kg on the Dalian Stock Exchange. The most recently determined sow population is 40.6 million t of animals and is therefore still a long way from the political target of 39 million in a range of 92 to 105% . Conclusion: In most EU countries, pig prices are at the same level with a few exceptions increased price level. Low slaughter numbers, low advance bookings, small cold storage stocks, ongoing stockpiling for the grilling season and stable demand ensure fixed pig prices. Easter business did not bring the expected upswing. The beginning of the month could bring some revival.
