Germany: V price 2.33 €/kg (range 2.33 – 2.38 €/kg) - the weekly slaughter figures are 599,222 pigs ( previous week 747,160 ) due to the public holiday, the slaughter weights are somewhat higher at 97.3 kg With 239,100 pigs (previous week 237,900 ), the pre-registrations remain well below the average of previous years. At the ISN auction on Tue, Apr 11In 2023, an average price of €2.41/kg +1 ct/kg was achieved at the pre-auction within a range of €2.37 to €2.50/kg. The V price for the period from April 13, 2023 to April 19, 2023 has been retained at €2.33/kg in a range of €2.33 to €2.38/kg; ASF : As of April 6th, 2023, 5,246 ASF infected wild boars in Brandenburg, Saxony and Mecklenburg have been officially confirmed. Slaughter figures remain at a low 360,767 pigs. Slaughter weights have fallen at 96.05 kg. In Italy, the listings in the 15th week of 2023 remained unchanged. The holiday business remains calm. In Spain, the prices in the 15th week of 2023 remained unchanged at a comparable €2.64/ kg. The high price level that has been reached restricts sales opportunities. Pigs are brought in from abroad. The Spanish Pig Association fears that ASF will be introduced as a result of the large number of piglet imports.In the USA/IOWA, prices have fallen to the equivalent of €1.46/kg . The battle numbers have increased little. The part prices are inconsistent and tend to fall somewhat. Cold store inventories have increased. Stock market listings for the summer months remain below €2/kg. Brazil: Producer prices have stabilized on average at €1.55/kg with weaker REAL. The price range has narrowed considerably. The main sales areas remain China/HK, South Korea and the Philippines. China: Prices fell back at the end of March 2023 with the equivalent of €2.71/kg . The demand for meat remains seasonally weak. Government stock purchases to stabilize prices are only having a moderate effect. Prices on the Dalian stock exchange of the equivalent of 3.24 €/kg will only be traded again for Sep.23. The number of sows fell by 0.6% compared to February 2023.Conclusion: The demand for meat in this year's Easter business was significantly below the average of previous years. Cold store inventories remain low. The coming barbecue season usually requires a certain stockpiling. In view of the scarce supply of living animals, it remains questionable whether this will succeed to a sufficient extent.
