Slaughter pig market in Germany
ASF: A total of 2,192 ASF-infected wild boars (+12 compared to the previous week) have been found in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. Further restricted areas are being reduced in some regions.
Market and price developments in selected competitor countries:
In Denmark , the comparably calculated prices have been increased by +3 ct/kg to €2 . 01/kg in week 24, 2025.
In Belgium, the comparable prices were increased by +4 ct/kg to €2.04/kg in week 24, 2025.
In the Netherlands , comparable prices will be raised by +2 ct/kg to €2.09/kg in week 24, 2025.
In France/Brittany , the comparable prices will remain unchanged at €1.98/kg .
In Italy, prices in week 24, 2025 have been reduced slightly to €1.63/kg LG. Supply is sufficient for limited demand.
In Spain, the price will be increased by +1 ct/kg to €2.35/kg in week 24, 2025. The upward price margin is narrowing, the high price level is slowing down export sales.
In the USA/IOWA , producer prices rose to the equivalent of € 2.02/kg on 09.06. The dollar exchange rate remains weak at 1.14 $ = 1 €. Slaughter figures have returned to normal seasonal levels. Cut prices have risen for the most part. The barbecue season is approaching its peak phase. Forward prices for the new front month Aug.-25 are at € 2.09/kg. In the 3rd quarter, prices are expected to remain close to this level, but there is a risk of a decline to €1.75/kg in the 4th quarter of 2025.
Brazil: Producer prices have risen again to €1.71/kg. This was primarily due to rising domestic prices and a slightly stronger exchange rate. The brisk export business remains the main price support.
China: At € 2.42/kg, prices have fallen comparatively little. The month of July 2020 is quoted at € 2.21/kg on the Dalian exchange. The forward prices for the second half of 2025 signal a persistently low price level. Imports, primarily from Brazil and Spain, are showing slight upward trends.
Conclusion: Persistently tight live supply and stable demand are keeping prices at a high level. Support from demand for barbecues remains subdued. Further price increases cannot be implemented in the sales market.

Despite the limited availability of meat, sales opportunities remain limited due to the increased price level. The previously usual increase in prices during the barbecue season is having little effect. In neighboring EU member states, prices are rising across the board.
