In Spain, the price will be increased by +1 ct/kg to €2.37/kg in week 25, 2025. The upward price margin is narrowing and the high price level is slowing down export sales.
In the USA/IOWA , producer prices rose to the equivalent of € 2.05/kg on 16.06. The dollar exchange rate remains weak at 1.15 $ = 1 €. Slaughter numbers have fallen slightly to the usual seasonal level. Cut prices have risen for the most part. The barbecue season is approaching its peak phase. The forward prices for the new front month Aug.-25 are at € 2.13/kg. In the 3rd quarter, prices are expected to remain close to this level, but there is a risk of a decline to €1.75/kg in the 4th quarter of 2025.
Brazil: Producer prices have risen again to €1.74/kg. This was primarily due to rising domestic prices and a slightly stronger exchange rate. The good export business remains the main price support.
China: Prices continued to fall slightly to €2.40/kg. The month of July 2020 is quoted at € 2.22/kg on the Dalian exchange. The forward prices for the second half of 2025 signal a persistently low price level. Imports, primarily from Brazil and Spain, are showing slight upward trends.
Conclusion: Persistently tight live supply and stable demand are keeping prices at a high level. Support from demand for barbecues remains subdued. Further price increases cannot be implemented in the sales market for the time being. The new ASF case in NRW is causing uncertainty.
ZMP Live Expert Opinion
Despite persistently low live supply, the unusually restrained demand in the summer season means that there is no longer any potential for price increases. The approaching vacation and vacation season is also dampening price expectations.
