ASF: A total of 2,214 ASF-infected wild boars (+8 compared to the previous week) have been found in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. In the district of Olpe (NRW), 8 cases of ASF have been detected so far.
Market and price developments in selected competitor countries:
In Denmark , the comparably calculated prices have been increased by +5 ct/kg to €2 . 06/kg in CW 26, 2025.
In Belgium, the prices calculated on a comparable basis will remain unchanged at €2.04/kg in CW 26, 2025.
In the Netherlands , comparable prices in week 26, 2025 will also remain unchanged at €2.11/kg.
In France/Brittany , the comparable prices will be increased by +2 ct/kg to €2.02/kg .
In Italy, prices in week 26, 2025 have been increased by 2 ct/kg to €1.66/kg LG. Preparations for the tourist season are underway.
In Spain, the price will remain unchanged at €2.37/kg in CW 26, 2025. The upward price margin seems to be almost exhausted, the high price level is slowing down export sales.
In the USA/IOWA , producer prices fell back to the equivalent of € 2.09/kg on 23 June after a brief interim high. The dollar exchange rate remains weak at 1.159 $ = 1 €. Slaughter numbers were lower due to the public holiday. Cut prices have largely fallen again. The barbecue season is approaching its peak phase. The forward prices for the new front month Aug.-25 are at € 2.16/kg. In the 3rd quarter, prices are expected to slip below the € 2/kg mark; in the 4th quarter of 2025, however, there is a risk of a decline to € 1.75/kg.
Brazil: Producer prices have stabilized at € 1.74/kg. Rising domestic prices were offset by the weaker exchange rate. Although exports remain around 9% higher than in the same month last year, they have recently slowed somewhat.
China: Prices have fallen further to €2.37/kg due to seasonal factors. The month of July 2020 is quoted at € 2.17/kg on the Dalian exchange. The forward prices for the second half of 2025 signal a persistently low price level of around €2.25/kg. Sow numbers were further reduced to 39.5 million. Government stock purchases should stabilize prices.
Conclusion: Despite low live supply, the price level achieved can only just be maintained The price range had to be opened up downwards. Support from barbecue demand remains disappointingly weak. The sales market remains difficult ahead of the upcoming vacation period. New ASF cases in NRW are causing uncertainty.
