German Vion sites are not on the list of approved companies. However, two Dutch sites have received approval in the previous week http://www.fsvps.ru/fsvps/importExport/germany/enterprises.html?product… Russian pork imports must be approved by the veterinary supervisory authority. At the beginning of Feb. 2013, a whole series of well-known companies were excluded from Russian imports because they had not submitted the veterinary certificates required by Russia. Russia requires a standardized federal approach. In Germany, however, veterinary matters are the responsibility of the individual federal states. The district administrations are responsible for practical implementation. The procedures vary accordingly. The most recent exclusion of Tönnies in Rheda-Wiedenbrück is said to be related to negative findings during the meat inspection. Compared to previous years, it is noticeable that the Russian inspection authorities have been quite persistent in making imports more difficult this year. Russian pig prices have been well below €2.5 per kg since last fall, indicating good self-sufficiency. In the previous periods, prices ranged from € 2.5 to over € 3 per kg. Is this just a coincidence? |
