On the EEX, the prices for the April-23 contract fell during the course of this week. We tubers are currently being traded at a price of 29.30 euros/dt. However, buyers and sellers are currently far apart, which is also reflected in the low sales today. As market participants' interest increases on the April-24, more and more contracts will be closed out on the April-23 date. The price quotations in Belgium, France and Germany for processing potatoes are unchanged towards the weekend compared to the previous week. Belgian buyers remain active in a wide variety of markets. German factories are mostly sufficiently supplied for the coming weeks, but are still looking for deliveries in April. In Belgium, farmers have already sold most of their harvest. The quantities are therefore unlikely to be sufficient for the rest of the demand season. Inventories are also shrinking in France. The farmers are ready to sell at the current price level and are clearing their storage areas. Overall, however, the situation and development on the local processing potato market has calmed down a bit.On the food market , demand is also quiet at the weekend. Requested price surcharges - especially for refrigerated goods in boxes - cannot currently be implemented. Weak demand continues to come from the export markets in Eastern Europe. The price level in combination with high transport costs is clearly putting pressure on the development of demand. Peeling companies are still hardly active on the free market. You have stocked up on enough contracts and are concentrating on completing them. However, advertising campaigns in the food retail trade always support demand.
ZMP Live Expert Opinion
The processing market has made its home for the time being. Prices have recently been stable. On the stock exchange, on the other hand, prices are already weaker and below the level that can currently be achieved on the spot market.
