The market trend calmed down further towards the weekend. The demand for processed goods is significantly lower than it was last week. Frit manufacturers are mostly well supplied, if there is any demand, it is from chip manufacturers. The offer as a whole is currently more than sufficient. In terms of exports, however, there are small impulses from Italy, which are increasingly reporting requirements because of their own small harvest. Overall, however, buyers are increasingly adopting a wait-and-see attitude. In Belgium, the quotations remain unchanged. The demand from the Belgian factories was mainly limited to later deliveries. Overall, however, the demand from Belgian factories has also fallen significantly. The business activities of the past few weeks have significantly improved the supply of the manufacturers. The situation is different in Great Britain. Here, the fries manufacturers are now increasingly looking for good quality, which is being held back by the local farmers. Qualities of the second choice tend to be traded effectively. Official figures from the UNPT farming association in France show that stocks there are well below last year's levels for both food and processing potatoes.At the end of December 2021 there were now around 2.2 million tons of processing potatoes in the producer warehouses, at the end of December 2022 there were only 1.8 million tons. Most recently, the value was too low in 2018. According to UNPT, 88 percent of French storage potatoes have already been sold under contract. Little changes on the food market. The quotations are unchanged. The market situation is largely balanced. Surcharges, which producers have been demanding for a long time, are still hardly enforceable, also because the exporters have announced that they will be delivering new potatoes.
