The Reka in the Rhineland is currently quoted at 54 euros/dt for Fontane, and 56 euros/dt each for Innovator, Agria and Markies. In Belgium, too, the prices are rising again. Belgapom quotes 55 euros/dt for Fontane today, Markies is also quoted at 55 euros/dt, there are no trading activities for Challenger and Innovator, the Belgian warehouses have been cleared here. As reported by the Belgian association Fiwap, varieties that are suitable for crisps production even fetch up to 60 euros/dt. Since the early potato harvest is a long time coming everywhere, the supply gap has occurred at the transition to the season. Start-up problems are increasing in the fields. Regionally, rot problems are also reported due to heavy rains immediately after planting. In France, the availability of old-crop potatoes shows a similar picture. Here, too, there are hardly any free goods to be had.The factories are now planning longer closing times. The planting of the main crop in France is largely complete. However, due to strong winds in the main growing areas, farmers can hardly keep up with the application of crop protection products. In the case of foodstuffs, the warehouses have also been cleared for the most part. Producers demand surcharges for the last batches. The first new potatoes from Germany are in high demand, especially in the farm shops. In food retail, it is still mainly imported potatoes that are on the shelves.
