The interest in the available EEX contracts has been low for weeks. There have recently been no more transactions for the individual contracts. Today there are only a few sales offers for the April 24 contract, but at 46.50 euros/dt they are far removed from the last determined settlement. There are hardly any effective sales left on the processing market . Inventories have been cleared almost everywhere. In Belgium, for example, a very small but highly sought-after offer is reported. Belgapom quotes 55 euros/dt for Fontane today. The planting of the main crop has finally been completed in Belgium, according to the growers' association. Overall, however, the stocks develop very differently. In some local areas, due to very heavy rainfall, the dams are heavily crusted and the potatoes only sprout weakly. Rotten seedlings have been an issue in Belgium for a number of weeks on a large scale. In other areas where it is currently dry, there are often bans on sprinkling. In Germany, too, effective sales of old-crop potatoes are only manageable. Whether for table or processing potatoes .Producers and market observers are concerned about the development of potato stocks. The wet spring delayed the planting, now it is often too dry and there has been only sporadic or non-existent precipitation in many regions since mid-May. There are problems accumulating stocks. Particularly in regions with light soils, the winds cause the dams to dry out because they are not yet protected by lush foliage. Many market participants already fear that the harvest could be rather small. Dry weather is also evident in France. Inventory stores have been cleared and the outplants are suffering from very high temperatures. Significant yield losses are already expected here in many cases.
