Danish pig exports 2015: after boom - now exceeded climax?
Danish pig exports have in the last 10 years from nearly 3 million to about 11.5 million shares more than quadrupled. The biggest boost held in the years 2008 and 2009, but then exports developed after some consolidation phases further upwards.
The year 2014 showed again above average increases. The momentum stopped even at the beginning of the year 2015. Recent stabilization trends are visible.
More than half of Danish piglets after Germany delivered. However, the figures stagnate since about 4 years to a level of annual 6.5 million units. Since recently published statistics for exports to individual countries shows that monthly average of 550,000 piglets after Germany are transported.
Increasing deliveries to go to Poland. While only about 4 million animals were transported in the year 2014, approximately 4.5 million pigs it might be after the recent developments in the year 2015. In the 1st half of the year 2015, the number was already 2.2 million units. The statement of the Polish pig demand consists of small-scale farming of sows. Polish sow housing by 40% has been reduced in the last 10 years. First, the Porker proportion went back. The remaining mast systems require however large parts of the pig that is able to supply Denmark.
Significantly smaller part of 550,000 units per year, Danish piglets after Italygo in recent years with increasing tendency. Czech Republic kna00 be supplied 150,000 young animals. The same magnitude occupy a majority of smaller deliveries.
It is interesting that the Netherlands, itself a large exporter of piglets, approximately 250,000 Danish piglets imported. These are mostly pigs for Bacon meat production.
In Denmark, recent pig counts show that the sow inventory little changed. To what extent a slight drop in the gilts provides sufficient evidence of a stagnant future development, remains open in the face of increasing productivity yet.
