Pig exports from Denmark on the rise
Denmark has almost 11 million in the year 2014 Pig exports. Compared to the previous year, the increase is approximately 12.5%.
In the year 2005 amounted to pig exports to 3 million units per year. Then followed two years of stagnation. The annual exports due to the increase in the deficit of piglets on the European continent with focus Germany doubled from 2008 to 2010. The years 2012 and 2013 were again a period of consolidation.
The countries of destination of Danish pig exports with their market shares have changed. At the beginning were pig exports almost 90% of the German market. Today is the German share only is still about 50%. For 3 years, the absolute number of Danish pig deliveries to Germany is almost unchanged in 6.3 million animals.
Other piglets importing countries have gained in importance. This is especially for Poland to determine which imported 2014 of expected to approximately 3.5 million shares or approximately 30% in the years have. Background is the decline of the Polish small-scale sow housing and cheap transport proximity to Denmark. A role may have played in the failures because of African swine fever in Poland.
A further destination is Italy. Decrease sow housing is also cause for increasing imports of piglets. The neighbouring countries are not available for delivery, remains wide transport of Denmark into the Italian plain.
Recipient countries of Danish pig exports are also more Eastern European countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary and Croatia. An insufficient volume of piglets in domestic is all together. Here are up to 40% off been increased the sows be able after accession to the EU.
A special feature represent Danish pig exports to the Netherlands , a country that exports even piglet in a magnitude of more than 6 million pieces per year. The quantities are small but manageable.
The Danish export Dynamics shows still no discernible weaknesses. Exports to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe will continue.
