The export of biodiesel from Argentina will fall this year from 1.6 million tons in 2014 to 800,000 tons by 50%. The collapse of in crude oil prices is the demand for the alternative fuel from South America to drop dramatically. The prices of the benchmark Brent Oil product halved since June 2014 to $46 a barrel before they have now recovered to $66 per barrel. This has negatively impacted the attractiveness of bio-diesel.
By 2013, the EU was the largest buyer market for Argentine biodiesel because you had to achieve the goals of additives in this country. Then punitive tariffs were raised by the EU for import, the grounds of unfairly low prices. That's why Argentina has new sales channels sought - and found that 2014 exports rose significantly, so that the top spot in the world mark Tran King remained. They reached that with the removal of export taxes. The loss of the EU as a major customer has made Argentina's bio diesel industry but vulnerable. Early May the Government has again lowered from 8.9% to 5% export tariffs, because demand is still suffering from the low crude oil prices.
