The rapeseed contracts on the Matif did not find a consistent direction before the weekend. While the earlier dates had to give way slightly, the later contracts stagnated. Winnipeg canola contracts also ended Friday with mixed signs. As in the USA, heavy rainfall in Canada is causing delays in sowing. In the long term, however, local growers expect improved growing conditions as a result of the resulting increase in soil moisture. In the USA, only the first two dates went into the weekend with profits. Today's public holiday in particular ensured that many investors still secured their profits and thus put prices under pressure. Soybean sowing is on its last legs, although here too the precipitation could mean that work on the last few meters could stall again.
