The mild weather in Russia has improved the state of winter cereal stocks very positively, reports the Russian weather service Hydrometcentre. In autumn last year the situation was even more negative. The percentage of winter grain stocks in poor condition was at a 7-year high of about 22% in early December because farmers were sowing on dry soil. Currently, only 7-9% of stocks are in poor condition, compared to 4% a year ago, said Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometcentre, at an online briefing in Moscow.
