37% more in May in South Africa

South Africa will most likely harvest 37% more corn in 2020 than last year. The weather conditions were excellent throughout the growing season.
A committee of agricultural experts (CEC) is currently assuming that the 2019/20 maize harvest in South Africa will bring 15.461 million tonnes. Last season there were 11.275 million tons.
The yields per hectare are relatively high across the country. 50% of the harvest has already been stored in commercial-level silos.
The harvest is divided into 9.081 million tons of white corn, which is used for human consumption and 6.443 million tons of yellow corn, which was grown as animal feed.
