6% more corn cultivation in South Africa

South African farmers are planning to expand their corn acreage by 6% for crop 2018/19. This was announced today by the official Crop Assessments Committee (CEC) via a press release.
Accordingly, it is expected that 2,448 million hectares will be cultivated with maize (previous year: 2.318 million hectares). In the last harvest, unfavorable weather had hurt yields.
The staple crop White Corn for human consumption is grown to 1.373 million hectares and Yellow Corn as feed to 1.075 million hectares.
