7% less winter wheat cultivation in Germany

The German acreage for winter wheat for harvest in 2020 was restricted by 7% to 2.84 million hectares. The Federal Statistics Office announced today.
Instead, farmers have turned to other crops. The winter rape area was expanded by 11.9% to 953,000 hectares. Brewing barley cultivation increased by 3.1% to 367,000 hectares, rye and other smaller cereals increased by 4% to 660,000 hectares, and grain maize cultivation in Germany rose by 10.8% to 460,000 hectares this year.
However, the cultivation of winter barley shrank by 2.2% to 1.32 million hectares.
