The USDA reported today that the USA exported more pork to China last week than it has in at least ten years.
There in China, African Swine Fever (ASF) has drastically reduced the national pig herd, driving meat prices up sharply.
In the week ending December 12, the USA exported 15,282 tons of pork to China. An initial conclusion (phase one) to the trade agreement between the two economic powers USA and China last week suggests that the USA will be able to continue to supply China with a lot of pork in the near future. Allegedly, US agricultural goods worth USD 40-50 billion per year are to be sold to China. That would be an incredibly large amount.
