Algeria: grain harvest falls due to the worst drought for 50 years

Algeria harvest reach this year a volume of 3.3 million tonnes versus 4.0 million tons by 2015. The Agriculture Minister Abdesselam Chelghoum announced that on Monday.
The Minister called the drought as the main reason for the decline in grain production. The North African country is suffering the worst drought for 50 years this year.
In addition, Algeria suffers from the sharp decline of in crude oil prices from their revenue a significant contribution to the State financing is provided.
Algeria grain imports reached volume of 9.25 million tonnes after a poor grain production by 2015 of 3.77 million tons last year.
