Algeria's state-owned grain purchaser OAIC yesterday launched an international tender for the purchase of wheat.
You ask for offers for a nominal 50,000 tons, but you usually buy a multiple of this amount. The offers are to be submitted by March 31 and are valid until April 1.
The wheat should then be in the period from 1-15 June and from 16-30 June. If the grain comes from South America, the loading times would be May 1-15 and May 16-31. May.
Algeria usually buys wheat in the European Union, mostly from France.
This tender was expected by market watchers since only 240,000 tonnes were purchased in the last tender on March 25th.
