Argentina: More than half of the soybean harvest in Argentina is now harvested and yields average 2.4 tonnes / hectare. This is reported by the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange and at the same time warns that average yields could fall even further during the harvest. 65.5% of the early sown soybeans are harvested, 54% nationally. Due to the effects of the drought, which has damaged large stocks in the Pampas belt since November, yields are expected to fall to 2 tonnes / hectare.
The overly hot and dry weather has meant that yields of last average of 2.9 tonnes per hectare have not been achieved. The stock market left the estimate of soybean production unchanged at 38 million tonnes.
In corn, 30.9% of the 2017/18 crop has been cleared so far, with average yields of 7.2 tonnes / hectare. Yields of late-planted maize are also below initial expectations, especially in the provinces of Cordoba and Entre Rios, and crop estimates remained unchanged at 32 million tonnes of maize.
