Argentina bio diesel export could rise this year by 80% compared to the previous year, as sales in the United States sharply. This South American country was leader in the export of biodiesel in the recent years, until the European Union (EU) has imposed anti-dumping duties. Last but better exports to the United States could compensate.
If so continue to run as the exports to this extent, 1.4 million tons of bio-diesel could leave until the end of the year, as a representative of the Association. Last year it was only 800,000 tons 2016 already 590,000 tons in the first half of the year.
The Argentine Chamber of Commerce, are also companies like Cargill and Bunge member estimates the bio diesel exports in 2016 to more than a million tons, of which go 75-80% in the United States. The big players in the market have overtaken their Zertifikationssysteme in the spring and are now better prepared for the trade in biodiesel.
At all success, there are also challenges.
Similar to how the EU the second largest importer of Argentinian biodiesel, an anti-dumping action at the WTO against Argentina has submitted, after the United States now Peru. While only 5% export duty will be charged for the bio diesel export, the export tax on soya beans 30% is. Peru believes that this violates international trade agreements, because the bio-diesel production in Argentina is indirectly subsidized so.
The action of the EU against Argentina's bio diesel exports was quashed by the WTO and the associations in Buenos Aires expect that deliveries will be resumed in the EU from March. In the first months in 2017 at the latest, the market is open again, the hope.
