The price of slaughter pigs is falling for the third time in a row. Overall, the offer is below the level of the previous year, but marketing is much more difficult. The slaughter companies only order small quantities so that the animals available cannot be sold completely. Analysts see no light at the end of the tunnel for future developments. Meat marketing remains the main problem. The offer is rather small, but sales are difficult and prices are under pressure. The prices for ham and salmon on the wholesale market in Hamburg have fallen by 40 cents and 30 cents per kilo in the past three weeks. In terms of exports, the lack of exports to Italy and weak business with China are weighing on the market.
