Beijing puts another 20,000 tons of pork on the market

Beijing plans to release 20,000 tons of frozen pork from its state reserves on 9 January.
Pork consumption in China is usually at its highest before the New Year celebrations, which take place at the end of January.
Beijing had already released 100,000 tons of frozen pork from its state reserves in December. The outbreak of African swine fever had reduced the Chinese pig herd by more than 40%.
