Algeria's state grain authority OAIC has started buying milling wheat with optional origins in an international tender, European traders have just announced in their initial assessments.
The purchase price is estimated to be between 382.50 and 384 US dollars per ton of c & f. More precise estimates of the prices are expected later.
The amount purchased is also still unclear, but traders say that at the initial stage, several hundred thousand tons may have been purchased for shipping in both the second half of December 2021 and January 2022.
Wheat of Russian origin was involved in the final phase of the negotiations, it said.
