Brazil's second corn crop 2017/18 (the Safrinha harvest) was today estimated at 4.5% (April estimate) by the agricultural consultancy AgRural at 57.2 million tonnes. The company reports today and justifies this with a smaller acreage and lower yield expectations due to below-average rainfall. The total corn harvest in Brazil for 2017/18 could thus reach 83.9 million tonnes, compared to 97.8 million tonnes estimated by the government for the previous period.
