Brazil is considering lowering import tariffs on corn and soybeans

In Brazil, a department of the finance ministry is discussing today whether the import duties for corn and soybeans for deliveries from countries outside the Mercosur group can be temporarily reduced from the current 8% to “zero”.
The background to this is the rising cost of living in the corona crisis. Both staple foods are currently particularly expensive in Brazil.
The Mercosur states also include Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.
