Brazil: Government plans to boost the strategic maize reserves for 2017

Brazil's Agriculture Ministry plans an increase of strategic maize reserves from previously 700,000 tonnes to 2.0 to 2.3 million tons in the coming year.
In September, the summer corn seeding for the upcoming season, expected that she could reach a record level begins.
The result of last season (summer and winter corn) was estimated in last week by the analysts CONAB 68,48 million tons. Reason for the reduction in the estimate was a sustained drought, which lead to a smaller winter maize crop 42,59 million tons as Conab.
The USDA left its forecast of the Brazilian corn crop 2016/17 in the August edition of the WASDE report unchanged compared to the previous month to 70 million tons.
