Brazil: More soybeans - less corn

Brazil's soybean crop 2017/18 is now estimated at 114 million tonnes by the state agricultural market analyst AgRural. This almost reaches the record harvest in the previous year.
The previous estimate from December was 112.9 million tonnes. Meanwhile, it is estimated that the acreage will be 2.5% larger and now at 34.8 million hectares. In the previous year, 114.1 million tonnes of soybeans were harvested in Brazil.
The summer corn harvest in the Center South region is estimated at 19.9 million, 20.5% less than in the previous year. The farmers had grown more soybeans, as corn prices have disappointed so far. Adding to the provinces in the north and northwest, the difference becomes even clearer. The (summer) maize production will total 25.1 million tons this year, compared to 30.5 million tons in the previous year.
