Brazil presents new ethanol policy

The Brazilian Government is preparing a support program for ethanol to reduce the country's fuel imports. The Energy Minister Fernando Coelho Filho said yesterday at a Conference in Sao Paulo.
The sugar cane processors have restricted their ethanol last favor production of white sugar. With sugar to make currently more money.
The program titled RenovaBio 2030 will introduced in 2017 after a public hearing in the first quarter. It has the aim to use more biofuels in Brazil in the next decade. But still no concrete steps, such as an additional tax increase for fossil fuels, are planned. The ethanol industry had requested this measure to lead their industry out of its current doldrums.
The current crop of sugar cane in the Brazilian Center-South produce 16% more sugar and 4% less ethanol than in the last year. The planned program to now promote the consumption of ethanol to meet the commitments made at the Paris Conference of climate.
Under one, that the commitments are respected, about 50 billion liters of ethanol available must be up to the year 2030, there are currently 28 billion litres. Last year, the price for bio-fuels fell even more, because crude oil prices fell.
In a public discussion will reveal how much more ethanol the country realistic way can consume. To achieve the goal, price mechanisms must be introduced or expanded over taxes. Currently, gasoline in Brazil contains 27% ethanol.
