Yesterday, the world's largest sugar cane processor in Pradopolis in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo announced that corn will probably also have to be used to produce ethanol in the future.
Other sugar cane factories are also upgrading their plants so that they can process corn as well as sugar cane. This makes sense for two reasons: on the one hand, waste products from sugar cane processing can be used in the corn processing. On the other hand, this would extend the production period to a full year. So far, sugar factories only work from April to December.
This would significantly increase ethanol production in Brazil. Now you check whether the logistics are available to bring the corn from Center-West to the factories. If the economy is also given, the board members should make the decision for this far-reaching measure.
In the large maize-growing areas of Brazil Mato Grosso and Goias in Center-West, various investments are also being made in the production of ethanol from corn. Analysts had advised to process more corn and sugar cane in their own country instead of exporting it.
